Our Company Manufactures:
We're Back!!!!
It has been a long
six years-but Ron Chapman-Shipwright,
Inc. is back in full production. As many of you may know our
home community, St. Bernard Parish, was totally destroyed by Hurricane
Katrina in 2005. The shop endured significant wind damage and flood water. In
addition, the shop also endured the results of a major oil spill, over 1
million gallons of crude oil on top of the flood waters that washed
through the area.
All of this coupled with the complicated problems relating
to damaged community infrastructure, destruction of production
facilities, government red-tape, insurance difficulties, and a severe
labor shortage made it difficult to resume production as early as we had
hoped.
Those problems are behind us and we are producing at
numbers equal to before the storm. We have also re-established the
shipping department which allows us to send our products nation-wide
once again.
Steve and I deeply appreciate the patience and loyalty of
our customers during those trying times, and will always cherish your
thoughts and kind words since that tragic event.
It's GREAT to be back!!!!!

Ron Chapman has produced the finest pirogues in
Louisiana for the past 30-plus years. Each boat is fabricated with hand-laid, primary-bonded
fiberglass mattes and woven rovens. Craftsmen finish each hull with a synthetically
reinforced bottom, foam seat flotation, and Cypress gunwales.
These elements combine to
provide an
inexpensive & durable craft that allows access to
places typically beyond reach as described in national
magazines.
They come in four sizes:
Copperhead,
Cottonmouth,
King, and
Mud Bug.
